Varicose Vein Solutions

Our endovenous lasers can allow your clinic to provide quick treatments for varicose veins with no side effects.

Are you concerned about Varicose Veins? Do you have aching or itchy legs, cramps or bulging unsightly veins? These are all symptoms of Varicose Veins. Varicose Veins are serious and do not get better without treatment – they generally get worse over time, leading to further complications and health hazards.

Endovenous lasers now present a new method of treating varicose veins without surgery. Endovenous laser treatment is a minimally invasive ultrasound-guided technique used for treating varicose veins using laser energy. These procedures are commonly performed by a vascular surgeon, phlebologist or interventional radiologist.

The endovenous laser treats the vein directly, without the need to remove it, by using a very fine optical fibre which is introduced into the vein under local anaesthetic. This enables the procedure to be performed at the clinic with minimal trauma. The procedure lasts between 1 and 2 hours and you would normally be able to walk out yourself straight away and return to normal daily activities. You can normally return to work the day after the procedure, if you so wish.

When it comes to treatment of varicose veins, Energist Medical Group has the experience you can rely on – Our MedArt laser division has been designing and manufacturing laser systems for more than 30 years. All of our laser systems, which are used by medical professionals worldwide, are FDA cleared and pass stringent testing and inspections in order to be badged as CE marked medical products.

How it works

The endovenous laser treats varicose veins using an optical fibre. A catheter bearing the laser fibre is inserted under ultrasound guidance into the great saphenous vein (GSV) or small saphenous vein (SSV) through a small puncture. The catheter is then advanced, also under ultrasound guidance, to the level of the groin or knee crease. Dilute local anaesthesia is injected around and along the vein (perivascular infiltration) using ultrasound imaging to place the local anaesthetic solution around the vein. The laser is activated whilst the catheter or laser fibre is slowly withdrawn, resulting in obliteration of the saphenous vein along its entire length. The treatment, which is performed without sedation, usually takes between 1 and two hours, and the patient can walk out under his or her own power. The leg is bandaged and/or placed in a stocking that the patient wears for up to three weeks afterwards.
