I’ve had a love/hate relationship with my body for my entire life. Like most women, I’ve felt good about myself some days, and not so good on others. Over the last few years, though, I’ve honed in on what makes me happy in life, and how I can translate that into contentment with the way I look. It’s an uphill battle, of course, but what’s more important than happiness? Arguably nothing.
That being said, I do dabble in many a beauty treatment to keep my body tight and toned. I’ve poked myself with 260 surgical grade needles, I’ve covered myself in charcoal, and now, I’ve used lasers to stimulate the break down of fat.
i-Lipo is touted as “the intelligent alternative to Liposuction,” where a technician uses lasers to to smooth cellulite, reduce fat, and shape your body. The i-Lipo website reads, “The low level laser used in i-Lipo creates a photobiomodulation effect, altering the cells chemistry and triggering a release of a lipase enzyme that can break down triglyceride molecules into fatty acids and glycerol molecules. This process now makes them small enough to exit through your prose and be used as fuel by your metabolism. Naturally, your lymphatic system carries the cell contents and removes them. i-Lipo maximizes the body’s lymphatic flow through stimulation of the nodes in your treatment area.”
What that means, in muggle terms, is i-Lipo is used to trigger the release of the fat, without exercise, and is able to target the precise stubborn areas. If you can’t seem to lose belly fat, or that extra inch from your thighs, you can finally target those areas in a matter of minutes. This is a non-invasive procedure with no pain, no needles, and no downtime. On top of all that, i-Lipo boasts a 30 percent reduction in the fat layer depth just after one treatment, and more can be achieved through more sessions.
I decided to give this miracle treatment a try. On the afternoon of my appointment, I anxiously stepped into The Wellpath office, ready for my treatment, but worried that it would hurt, feel weird, or worse—not work at all. I was immediately put at ease by the cool demeanor of the receptionist and then the sweet conversation with Dr. Jamé. She asked me where I felt my problems areas were and then to derobe so she could take my measurements.
The treatment includes four laser pads with 36 laser diodes. The laser pads are positioned on the targeted areas with velcro before the lasers are turned on. Honestly, I couldn’t even tell anything was happening. It felt slightly warm, but that is the extent to which I felt anything at all. After about 20 minutes, I was done. Dr. Jamé explained that as the fat cell contents are released and excreted through the lymphatic system, results will be pretty immediate. She told me that typical patients lose anywhere from 2-4 centimeters in the abdomen after every treatment, but I was still skeptical. Guess WHAT. I lost 3 whole inches. Would it be inappropriate for me to run around the room screaming whoopee!? Turns out, it wasn’t.
Because 8 treatments are recommended, I will be going back to finish up the full program. Check back with me about the end results! Most likely, they’ll be pretty exciting.
