How it Works – iLipo Ultra
Using treatment pads placed on specific areas of the body, the i-Lipo Ultra low-level lasers are used to trigger a chemical signal in the fat cells that breaks down stored triglycerides into free fatty acids and glycerol which can be released through channels in the cell membranes. The fatty acids and glycerol are then transported around the body to the tissues that will use them during metabolism to create energy. This process of fatty acid release is a natural response of the body when the body needs to use stored energy reserves, so i-Lipo is not creating any unnatural reaction in the body nor does it affect or damage any surrounding structures such as skin, blood vessels and peripheral nerves.
The i-Lipo Ultra laser incorporates vacuum massage and infra-red skin tightening to target the most stubborn fatty deposits. The vacuum massage action of the Ultra enhances the removal of released fat cell contents and, by its suction action, optimises absorption of infra-red laser in the dermis to promote collagen growth and enhance blood circulation in the area. The result is a slimmer, tighter and smoother looking skin.

How it works – SmartSculpt
In contrast to traditional liposuction where fat tissue is mechanically broken into smaller parts, laser assisted liposuction liquefies the fat, making it far easier to remove the fat and requiring smaller cannulas for the fat extraction. The laser energy is delivered through a thin 0.6mm laser fibre within a similar sized cannula, which is far smaller than those used in traditional liposuction.
A small incision is made to the side of the area to be treated, and a sterile anaesthetic solution is injected beneath the skin into the adipose tissue. The laser cannula is then inserted and the laser activated to melt the fat throughout the treatment area. On larger areas the liquefied fat together with the anaesthetic solution is then removed using suction. A compression bandage is then usually applied
Smaller cannulas mean less traumatic impact on surrounding tissues and therefore less postoperative symptoms such as swelling, bruising and pain, and smaller incisions which usually do not require stitching to close. Another benefit of finer cannulas is the possibility to perform precise sculpting in smaller areas such as the face and neck areas.
Histologies of removed fat tissue show that coagulated blood vessels decrease the incidence of bleeding during and after laser lipolysis procedures. In addition, the heating generated by the laser energy improves collagen formation and tightens skin, bringing significant cosmetic benefits.
